When the Leaves Come Tumbling Down

An A to Z Poetry Collection About Loss

This book won Regional 2nd Runner Up in Inlandia’s Hillary Gravendyke Poetry Book Prize 2023 and contains The Weight of the World, a short story that was nominated as a finalist in Somo en escrito’s Best Raza Short Short Story 2023.

This is my 6th poetry collection, and by far, my softest, gentlest collection of poetry ever. When the Leaves Come Tumbling Down: An A to Z Poetry Collection About Loss is extremely vulnerable, yet still very empowering. This book takes you on a journey through the many stages of grief, grappling with denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance of all types of loss. From death to romantic relationships, you may find poems that tackle only one stage at at time, while there are others that weave all five stages into one, single poem.

Unlike my other books, this collection is predominantly in English with classic, Diosa X hints of multilingualism embedded within. This collection is the perfect companion to “cuddle season” as it fosters a safe space to reflect on all that was, but no longer is. Just as fallen leaves pile up on the ground, this books opens the door for you, with rake in hand, so you can finally say goodbye to old wounds and loving release that which no longer serves you.

This collection was published by an indigenous, Cherokee sister, Amanda, at Hawkeye Publishing.

The book is available on Amazon at When the Leaves Come Tumbling Down or feel free to email me, or DM me through IG or FB to buy directly.

Advanced Praise

Diosa X is a poet I’ve had the pleasure of publishing a few times. Her poetry always reassures me we are all passionately poetic beings if we just explore inside our hearts and minds. In this collection that is confirmed splendiferously! Every poem sparks with feeling through the awesome power of her literary tool chest…from abecedarians to villanelles. When the Leaves Come Tumbling Down is a fine testament to a life lived seeking love and companionship, encountering separation and grief along the way, as is the human condition, wherein, as a poet examining her existence, revelations abound. I am overjoyed at the abundance of great quotable lineage in her poesia, and you will feel chilled and warmed by the variety of wholly relatable situations found inside this volume, from abuse to masks, from drugs to quiddity, from school shootings to the void. Do your outer world a favor, buy a copy for a friend, family member, or lover. You won’t regret the time spent in these affirming lines.
